Radio Broadcast Tool Box

Based on our experience in the field, we designed and built a portable radio tool box. Easy to operate, this box aims to enable everyone to make its own live radio podcast in autonomy.

This radio studio is durable, resistant, light and consists of a mixer, a computer and microphones.  The requirement for simple and intuitive use of the tool guided every step of the creation.

With this radio tool box, the technical aspect is simplified. Anyone can make radio.

We deliver the box. We give training to show how the box works, to pass on the basics of journalism and to rallying around the box.

More specifically, the project aims to:

** Structure a facilitation method for collective radio practice with a mixed audience.

** Launch and settle a local radio live podcast

** Promote meeting, social inclusion, solidarity and cohesion between inhabitants of the same territory through radio practice.

** Set up a space for dialogue and listening, to promote initiatives, for the empowerment of participants and for the public awareness.

**  Ensure a sustainable project.

This Radio Box was dreamed by students of école parisienne de design et création industrielle (ENSCI) with their professor, Roland Cahen.  The project has evolved. We have been working with “Making Wave”, Mathieu Eymoud, and now with DSF Crew.

MicroCamp Radio

Microcamp Radio is an itinerant radio for refugees people. The aim is to create liveradio programs by refugees, from refugee camps and housing center.

Microcamp Radio opens a space for dialogue, allowing refugees to express
themselves and create something meaningful together.

CREATING A RADIO SHOW TOGETHER :  TO SPEAK, TO LISTEN, DISCUSS AND HAVING A GOOD TIME

We hear a lot about refugees camps in Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Greece, France, but we hear less from the refugees themselves, their voice, how they live and what is dear to them. That is why we want to give refugees the keys to manage their own radio podcast.

We bring technical equipment and we train participants to create a radio broadcast. The program’s topic will be issued from the informal discussion of participants. It can be about their background (migration, their country of origin…), what is dear to them (family, cooking, music…) and their
reflexions on the outside world.

Based on popular education model, the workshop includes different activities of informal education and technical training. Those laboratory are collaborative. It enhances peaceful discussions, valorize and empower equally the participants. We put refugees in the role of  journalists and witnesses, allows them to spend a moment away from the constraints of daily life in a camp and talk together about shared topics sometimes taboo or left behind. From this  human experience, a rich sound material arise. In the microphone, we hear the participants laugh, discuss their doubts, their experiences, their hopes, their reflections.

For a moment, refugees hold the microphone and speak for themselves. They got the opportunity to be actors of their own speech on the topics of their choice, and so they make their voices travelling beyond the boundaries of camps and borders.
